Abdullah Gül University (AGU) participated in the newly launched WURI – “World’s Universities with Real Impact” ranking, created by the Hanseatic League of Universities, of which AGU became a member in 2019.

In this inaugural edition, the well-known American universities Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology lead the overall Innovative Universities ranking, where AGU appears in 41st position and as the sole Turkish institution represented.

AGU also ranks 10th in the “Student Mobility and Openness” category, recognizing the innovative and rich AGU internationalization practices and mobility opportunities.

The Ranking evaluates the innovative aspect of universities in different categories:

  • Industrial Application
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit
  • Ethical Value
  • Student Mobility and Openness
  • Overall

The objective of the WURI Ranking is to “evaluate the university’s real contributions to our society. WURI highlights creative and innovative approaches to university research and education that focus on:

1)Industrial applications rather than the traditional ways of counting research papers and lecture-type teaching;

2)Value-creating startups and entrepreneurship rather than a traditional focus on the number of jobs filled; and

3)Social responsibility, ethics, and integrity, rather than a focus on knowledge and skills just for material success.”
