At Abdullah Gül University (AGU), “Career Kitchen, A Meeting with Companies" event was organized. The event helped this year's candidates for graduation to find potential jobs and internships.
“Career Kitchen, A Meeting with Companies" was held for the third consecutive year at the Sümer Campus Conference Hall and foyer area. Many local, national and international companies joined the event with their representatives, some with executives and Human Resources managers.
The event was organized by the AGU Career and Employment Office and began with the opening ceremony. Melikgazi District Mayor and Kayseri Mayoral Candidate Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, AGU faculty, company executives and HR managers, students and guests joined the opening.
Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu spoke at the opening and advised students to plan their careers taking into account the future rather than the past. Prof. Sabuncuoğlu said to students "You will live in a fully new world" and reminded them the fast-changing world, and smart systems, digitalization, data collection and analysis as distinguished areas in the changing world.
Melikgazi District Mayor and Kayseri Mayoral Candidate Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç also spoke at the opening and praised Abdullah Gül University, its students, faculty and researchers for giving Kayseri a new vision and mission.
AGU makes its voice heard in science, research and social activities in our country thanks to its teaching and applications, Dr. Büyükkılıç said and added, it additionally boosts regional economy as exemplified with this good practice of the university-industry cooperation entitled "Career Kitchen, A Meeting with Companies".
Afterwards, Prof. Güler Aras, Independent Board Member of Allianz Türkiye, made a presentation on "Competences and jobs to shape the future" as the keynote speaker.
Prof. Aras informed students about entrepreneurship and skills companies look for in employment process in particular. Prof. Aras also talked about the most popular jobs in the present, global trends in business world, global risks, rapid technological change and transformation before answering students' questions.
The Career Kitchen event continued with the panel "Business World, New Opportunities and Entrepreneurship in the Future". The panelists were Zehra Öney, the Chair of Corporate Communications Committee at the Turkish American Business Council, a member of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and KADİGER Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey, Zeynep Dereli, the Founder and CEO of Technology and Humanity Colleges (Tink), Mine Öztürk, an Angel Investor and Co-founder at TıkaBasa, Halit YILMAZ, the Chairman and CEO of ALTOY Defense Industry & Aviation Inc., and Behiye Teymur, CEO of Arnas Agro. An interactive talk was held about expectations of the future business world from the youth and the place of entrepreneurship.
The following Alumni Panel hosted Sami Kaya from Aspilsan, Şükrü Yasin Güven from Aselsan as AGU Industrial Engineering graduates, and Berkay Güncan from Stryker as a Mechanical Engineering graduate. They shared their individual job-hunting experience and work-life observations.
"Career Kitchen, A Meeting with Companies" event continued with simultaneous workshops in various classrooms and meeting rooms.
Companies set up booths at the event to receive and inform their guests.
