The 1st edition of the Kayseri Electrical and Electronics Day was held at Abdullah Gül University.

The Electrical and Electronics Day was organized collaboratively by the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Student Clubs of AGU, Erciyes University (ERU) and Nuh Naci Yazgan University (NNY).

The event, held at the AGU Sumer Campus, was organized with the aim of boosting knowledge and development of students in terms of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, improving the technology, helping students increase their potentials and realizing university-industry cooperation.

AGU Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu delivered the opening speech of the event at the Rectorate Conference Hall and explained the qualities of and expectations concerning engineers in the changing world.

Emphasizing, today an engineer must have an excellent command of English, Prof. Sabuncuoğlu stated they must be concerned with global issues, be digitally literate, mobile, entrepreneurial and innovative.

Prof. Sabuncuoğlu highlighted new emerging professions such as data engineering, design engineering of nanomaterials and engineering of recycling technologies within the field of engineering.

Following the opening remarks, Prof. Necmi Taşpınar, Prof. Bülent Yılmaz and Assoc. Prof. Serhan Yamaçlı, Electrical and Electronics Department Heads at Erciyes University, AGU and Nuh Naci Yazgan University respectively, talked with guests and students and answered their questions.

Afterwards, Serdar Turan, Chief Content Officer at INFOMAG Publishing and Editor-in-Chief at Harvard Business Review Türkiye, made a presentation entitled "Kendimizi keşfetmek" (Discovering Ourselves).

Turan presented recent hot topics, challenges and opportunities, advantages and disadvantages of electrical and electronics engineers from the perspective of the business world.

Turan gave various examples to existing problems in the business world and touched upon opportunities waiting for the electrical and electronics engineers.

İsmail Toygar, Manager of Intralogistics at Mercedes-Benz Aksaray Plant, also spoke at the event and said, the world is changing fast and along with it the Mercedes-Benz Türkiye keeping up with the change.

Toygar informed about the Mercedes-Benz's selection criteria for hiring, competences expected from employees and gave students advices on business life.

In the other sessions of the event, engineers, academics and students came together.

The event lasted one day and Erciyes University Vice Rector Prof. Murat Doğan, academics and students from AGU, Erciyes and Nuh Naci Yazgan universities, and many guests joined.
