Second-year students of the Abdullah Gül University (AGU) Architecture Department made bricks out of adobe at the Workshop.

The workshop entitled “Adobe Construction Workshop.01: adobe bricks for a cat shelter” was organized within the scope of “ARCH 221 Elements & Components 1” course and “Lecture Free Week".

The workshop was organized thanks to the supports of Dr. Buket Metin, R&D Project Development Advisor and Visiting Lecturer at the School of Architecture, Abdurrahman Tekin from the AGU Construction and Technical Affairs and Specialist Mehmet Gören from the School of Architecture, with getting materials and equipment.

At the workshop, which was the first event of a series of related workshops, students made many adobe bricks in groups following the instructions given to them.

At the next editions of the workshops, which will be held during the fall term in line with the course content, adobe bricks will be used to build a cat shelter, a roof construction will be made and workshops will finish until the end of the fall term when the roof construction is added to the structure. In this way, students are expected to gain a holistic hand-on experience starting from making materials and components to the construction within the course.
