Abdullah Gül University's (AGU) Department of Architecture and RWTH Aachen University (Germany) organized a joint workshop in Uzunyayla.
The workshop started with technical visits to the city center of Kayseri, Talas, and Ağırnas and continued with fieldwork in Circassian villages located in the region of Uzunyayla.
PhD Candidate Medine Altıok, studying at the Architecture Master's Program of the Department of Architecture at RWTH Aachen University, Dr. Buket Metin, a faculty member at the Department of Architecture of AGU's Faculty of Architecture, and RA Özlem Kevseroğlu and Lecturer Bahar Elagöz Timur from the same department ran the workshop, hosting 25 master's students and graduates.
During the fieldwork, the students examined the valuable cultural landscape of the region on the spot. They listened to the migration stories of the village inhabitants, studied the architecture of Sacayağı and Örenşehir villages in detail, documented an old house, and made some analyses. The workshop lasted a week, and the data obtained were digitalized to create a travel journal. It ended after some poster presentations.
