Abdullah Gül University (AGU) students earned all the top three awards at the Kayseri leg of the "The Time Is Now" campaign, launched with the collaboration of the EU Information Centres Network and Bilim Virüsü.

Within the "The Time Is Now" campaign, 1900 university students from 19 cities throughout Turkey created projects on the climate crisis and sustainability.

The team composed of Ali Nurettin Demir from AGU Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Tunç Erbudak and Tuğba Kaplanoğlu from AGU Bioengineering won first place in the Kayseri Climate Ambassadors competition with the project "Micro Algae Energy," based on an ecological biotechnology initiative.

AGU Bioengineering student Tuğba Kaplanoğlu also earned second place in the same competition with another team, proposing a mobile application project titled "İsrafa Set Çek" (Cut off Waste).

Last but not least, another AGU student team with İrem Nur Nergiz, Mustafa Dağıstan, Süheyla Ünaldı and Betül Özkan from AGU Industrial Engineering and Tuğba Kaplanoğlu from Bioengineering took third place with their mobile application project "EcoMimesis."

The students came out on top in the competition with their projects designed to generate solutions to the climate crisis, thanks to their courses at AGU, where they also seek solutions to global challenges.

Young people who complete the "The Time Is Now" campaign earn a participation certificate and competence portfolio, access further national and international opportunities, get invitations to special influencer meetings and webinars throughout the year, and some of them will be selected to join the 2022 EU-Turkey Climate Youth Forum.
