Marc Haberland, the founder and group managing director of Clariba, a Dubai-based international Information Technology and Services company, delivered the speech "A Second Chance: Lessons Learned from Entrepreneurship" at Abdullah Gül University (AGU).
The "AGU Talks" seminar series is organized by the AGU Youth Factory and continues to bring together leading figures from culture, arts, sports, education and business with students.
The guest speaker of the current edition was the founder and group managing director Marc Haberland from Clariba, which is an international technology and services company developing new generation smart systems for its international customers among which there are Hp, Reuters, Vodafone, Bayer, Universal Pictures, etc.
In his speech "A Second Chance: Lessons Learned from Entrepreneurship", Haberland gave some advises to the students who might want to be entrepreneurs and found their companies.
Haberland stressed two points as the most significant while establishing a new company: firstly, the company mission, vision, and values. Haberland said, "It is very crucial to determine the mission, vision and values of your company correctly".
The second point is finding one's answer to the question "WHY", stated Haberland: "Start by asking yourself 'Why' and focus on your answer to this question. In any case, your answer will require hard work. You will have to work hard as customers demand novelties. Your mission, vision and values have utmost importance, but you also need customers. New customers and capital are also necessary."
Haberland advised students who wanted to launch their companies to establish networks, expand their connections and improve themselves through self-learning.
"Know your competitors, discover and be innovative", said Haberland and answered the audience's questions.
At the end of the talk, Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç, the AGU Youth Factory Coordinator, presented Mr. Haberland a Sapling Donation Certificate for the sapling planted in his name.
Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, academics, students and many guests joined the seminar.
