Abdullah Gül University (AGU) students came in first place in the "Designing A Sustainable Future" competition organized by Rönesans Holding, one of the biggest construction companies in the world, to ensure that university students have a "sustainable" culture.

The competition has been organized for the last three years and carried out in the categories of Engineering Idea Competition and Architectural Idea Competition.

Prepared by AGU students as a team, the sustainable construction management project got past opponents in the competition of 3 thousand student applications from 133 universities and ranked among top 8 projects. Following the evaluation of the selection committee, the project was awarded the first place.

Students Banu Başyiğit, Halil İbrahim Çatak from the AGU Architecture Department and Merve Sönmez, Hüseyin İlcan, Zafer Yılmaz from the Civil Engineering Department won the 20-thousand money award.

AGU students also got the opportunity to do their internship at Rönesans Holding thanks to their project which covers topics of mobilization, parcel settlement and sustainability, and incorporates solar light, wind, ground, green area continuity, social and physical environment qualities.

Students received their awards at the ceremony at İstanbul TED Rönesans College.AGU students' awards were presented by the lead biomimicry architect Michael Pawlyn.

Rönesans Holding aims to establish sustainability into business models and with the student idea competition which takes economic and social principles as examples it aims to develop sustainable business models in Turkey and convey this culture to the youth who are going to build the future.
