Daryl York was educated in the UK and Australia. His main areas of experience and expertise are English Language Teaching, International Education and Educational Management. He served until 2007 as Director of Tarsus American School. Until 2013 he was a lecturer in the Graduate School of Education at Bilkent University, where he also worked as the General Coordinator responsible for setting up the İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent Erbil College in Iraq, a school which opened in 2010 and which he continues to serve as a Board Member. He has also taught English in France and Yemen.

Nisrin Al-Rubaiee is a Dutch citizen of Iraqi origin. She obtained a Master’s degree in English Literature from Leiden University, The Netherlands, and has a teaching certificate from Amsterdam University. She has nine years working experience, seven of which were in The Netherlands and two in Turkey. Nisrin has taught at secondary schools, universities and has given private tutoring to managers in companies. She has taught general language courses and English for special purposes (English) for Business. Nisrin is currently working on her second Master’s, in TESOL.

Tuğba Birdal graduated from Hacettepe University, English Linguistics Department in 2008. Then, she got English Teaching Certificate from the same university. She completed an associate degree program on Foreign Trade in Anadolu University, 2010. In 2014, when she was in USA, she completed a TESOL program held in George Washington University, in Washington D.C. She is currently working on her Masters degree in English Language Teaching at Erciyes University. Previously she worked as a teacher in a private course (2008-2012) and prepared undergraduate and graduate students for language proficiency exams in Turkey. Born in 1988 in Kayseri, Eren Delibaş graduated from Erciyes University with a first in English Language and Literature. He previously worked as an English Instructor at the School of Foreign Languages, Erciyes University. Eren Delibaş joined Abdullah Gül University in February 2012. Born and raised in Canada, Cengiz Demets is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, followed by a Bachelor of Education. After completing his studies at the Faculty of Education in 2007, Cengiz went on to become a full-time high school teacher in the Toronto region where he had the opportunity to teach at four different high schools in both English and French. As a teacher, his area of focus became French as a Second Language for immersion students at the senior level. Cengiz’s professional interests include second language acquisition, assessment & evaluation, critical literacy and instructional media & technology. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, playing basketball and above all, playing with his 4 children.
Morgan LLOYD, Instructor
Morgan Lloyd was born and raised in Kingston, Canada. He finished his Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and History at Queen's University in 2007 and subsequently went on to complete a Master of Arts in Political Economy at Carleton University in 2009. Following a brief stint as a PhD candidate at McMaster University, Morgan went on to receive the CELTA in 2012 and then to complete his Bachelor of Education at Queen's University in 2014 with a special emphasis upon EAP instruction. Morgan's interests include Ottoman history, critical economics, evolutionary psychology and linguistics.

Marie-Louise XAVIER, Instructor
Marie-Louise received her BA in Language and Communications from Curtin University, Western Australia. After working as a photographer and copywriter, she completed a Certificate IV in Instructional Multimedia and worked in print and web design, animation and film for 15 years. Marie-Louise gained her Diploma of Education from Edith Cowan University in 2004. After teaching English, Media and Drama in Perth, Western Australia for four years, Marie-Louise completed the CELTA and came to Istanbul. She is interested in students developing a range of skills and abilities that enable them to deconstruct the world around them.
Özlem YAZICI, Instructor
Graduate of English Language and Literature from Hacettepe University, 2007. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in the same department at Ankara University. She previously worked as an instructor at Ufuk University and Hacettepe University. Özlem joined Abdullah Gül University in February 2012. She is now working on curriculum and material development in the unit. Her interests include new trends in ELT, English language teacher blogs, different cultures, reading, cinema and travel.

During the program, she worked as a trainee at four different schools two of which were secondary school and the rest of which were high schools. In addition, she worked as an English Drama Teacher at a school in the campus. Moreover, she worked at the School of Foreign Languages, at vocational schools, faculties and prep classes teaching Main Course, Beginner and Elementary Level English courses, Listening & Speaking & Writing & Reading courses at Niğde University.
She is now working at School of Foreign Languages at Abdullah Gul University as an Instructor.
Rana SUAYIN, Instructor
She graduated from Erciyes University with a first in English Language and Literature Department in 2008. She worked as a language instructor at Melikşah University from 2009 to 2015. She joined Abdullah Gül University in July, 2015. Married with one daughter, she continues her education as a Ph.D student at Melikşah University ELL Department in Applied Linguistics field. With years of experience in Language Assessment in English as a Foreign Language, she is interested in the latest developments in this field.

She has started her career at TED Kayseri Foundation Schools and worked there from 2006 to 2013. She has attended many workshops about teacher development, educational technology, teaching young learners and new methods in teaching English and still continues to work on these issues.
She started working at Abdullah Gül University in 2015 as an Instructor in the School of Foreign Languages.
Zerrin ÖZDEMİR, Instructor
Zerrin Özdemir graduated from English Language and Literature Department in Faculty of Science and Arts at Hacettepe Universityin 2010. She also participated in Pedagogical Formation Education Certificate Program in Hacettepe University and was certified in English Language Teaching. In 2013, she completed CELTA in Istanbul and currently works on her Master’s degree in English Language Teaching at Erciyes University. From 2010 to 2015, she worked at Melikşah University as an English instructor. She also worked at Melikşah University Material and Curriculum Development Office during the 2014-2015 academic year, and she taught writing for IELTS. Zerrin Özdemir joined Abdullah Gül University in January 2016.
Olfa BOUSSADA HMILI, Instructor
Olfa was born and raised in Tunisia. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature, she worked as a translator/Interpreter for Inter-governmental and humanitarian organizations. In 2013, she finished her TKT training and moved to Turkey to teach English. Before joining Abdullah Gül University, she served as the Head of the Department at an International School. Olfa’s interests include travelling and sports.
Umair AHSAN, Instructor
Umair Ahsan is from London. Prior to joining Abdullah Gul, he lived in Istanbul for four years, where he taught at several universities. Umair holds BSc and MA degrees from King's College, London, together with a CELTA (and a partially completed DELTA). In his free time he enjoys traveling, visiting places of historic significance, reading crime fiction, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his family.
Nuray CANDEMİR, Instructor
Nuray Candemir, who was born in Kayseri, graduated from English Language and Literature department of Hacettepe Unversity and then worked at a language school in Kayseri which served to prepare students for national and international language proficiency exams. Meanwhile, she also worked as a certified interpreter while on the other hand she coordinated and participated in Youth in Action Projects together with several NGOs. She also studied for her Master’s degree on Philosophy of Religion and then on English Language and Literature at Erciyes University. After working at a foundation university for three years, she has joined to our team in 2018. She has been studying for her PhD degree on English Language and Literature since 2014. She is interested in world languages and literature, drama, children’s literature, cooking, and photography.
Merve GAZİOĞLU, Instructor
Merve Gazioğlu graduated from English Language Teaching Department at Erciyes University in 2011. She worked at Erciyes University (2011-2013) and Melikşah University (2013-2016) as an English Instructor. She was also a member of Material Development team for a while. She joined Abdullah Gul University, School of Foreign Languages in January, 2018. Currently, she has been doing her Integrated PhD in Applied Linguistics at Erciyes University since 2014. She is interested in Testing and Assessment, Corpus Linguistics and Sociolinguistics and has been conducting some academic studies on these fields. She likes reading, watching movies, playing the piano and travelling in her spare time.
Yasin TURAN, Instructor
Yasin TURAN graduated from Marmara University ELT Department in 2005. He worked as an instructor in different institutions of Turkish Air Force between 2008 and 2017. He received his diploma on “Advanced English Language Instructor Course” given by the US Air Force in Texas / USA. In 2013, he was assigned to NATO Training Mission in Kabul Afghanistan and he actively took participation in establishment of Afghan Foreign Languae Institution. He has a Master’s degree on Curriculum Development regarding English for Specific Purpose (Aviation). In his thesis, he studied an Aviation program and a coursebook both of which were developed by himself and he contributed a lot to ESP field in Turkey. In 2015, he attended a conference in London and his article was awarded with “Best Paper Award” by the organization committee. He is still continuing his doctorate studies and taking DELTA courses as well. Yasin TURAN was given more than 60 national and international certificates of merit including “Outstanding Service Award”, “Achievement Medal in Education” and “NATO Medal”.
Mustafa ÖZER, Instructor
Born and raised in Kayseri, Mustafa received his BA in English Language Teaching from Anadolu University Education Faculty in 2005. He started his teaching career in 2006 and taught English as a foreign language at various state schools in Rize and Artvin. After 12 years of teaching experience, he returned to Kayseri and joined us at AGU School of Foreign Languages in May 2018. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics at Karadeniz Technical University. Mustafa’s professional interests are corpus linguistics, classroom discourse, learner motivation and the use of technology in ELT. Passionate about Beşiktaş, Mustafa enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also loves traveling, local dishes of Kayseri and photography.
Eda KEVSER ŞAHİN, Instructor
Born and raised in Sivas, Eda Kevser ŞAHİN received her BA in Department of English Language and Literature from Cumhuriyet University in 2013. During her BA, she studied as an exchange student in the University of Bayreuth in Germany. In 2014 she completed her BA in the Department of International Relations at Anadolu University. She worked at Western Languages and Literatures Department at Kilis 7 Aralık University and English Language and Literature Department at Erciyes University as a research assistant (2013-2019). She is currently working on her PhD thesis in English Literature at Erciyes University. Her research interests include orientalism, ecocriticism, psychology, culture studies and comparative literature.
